Music nowadays… is it the same as yesterday?

75% of me says yes.

Some music from the previous century and early 2000s talked about women, men, and sex… so does today’s music. Songs like She’s a Bad Mama Jama and Super Freak aren’t any different from today’s music. I think today’s musical artists are more blunt about what they want from someone or want to do to someone. On the other hand, I think that music artist from the past had ways of using good instrumental music and sugar-coating within their songs to make it seem less vulgar.

Am I trying to compare great songs from the past century to music young people are listening to today?

No, that’s not my intent.

All I’m saying is that no one can really talk bad about today’s music when it was designed to cater to today’s people.

Preference.

I prefer music that allows me to catch more than one message within a wide range of an artist’s songs. Not just about riches but also songs that will enlighten me, empower and motivate me. No matter the era.

Feel-good music.

I love it when I get this sense of nostalgia that comes when I listen to a song… think of where I was when I first heard it.

I’ll end it here.
