Instead of making a long Facebook post, I chose to blog instead because I had a lot to say *LOL* When you read this blog, just know that I’m expressing what my mind is thinking at the moment, and I wrote this right after I saw it.

OK. So, Loki premiered last month on Disney Plus and this is a part of MCU Phase 4. I believe this is giving Marvel a chance of taking a step in another direction and introducing the multiverse. First, we have Wanda Vision and how she had children with Vision, among other things. She lost the kids and now she’s trying to get the kids back with dark magic. Then, you have the Falcon and the Winter Soldier where Sam Wilson struggles with taking on the mantle of being Captain America while black. The question during the whole show was “Is America ready for a Black Captain America?” Eventually, Sam came around after the role of Captain America was assigned to John Walker. (I know many, many people don’t like Walker, but we have to acknowledge the fact that both him and Sam took on this role.) So now we have Loki, who was supposed to be dead and is now alive!

If you are unsure about what is going on with Loki, then I understand the confusion because Loki had A LOT going on! I didn’t read the comics growing up and my fandom of Marvel goes back as far as X-Men, please give me a little grace here *LOL*. To help you understand the show, Loki died by Thanos in Infinity War. While the Avengers went back in time to collect the infinity stones to defeat Thanos in End Game, Loki escaped versus going back to Asgard like he was supposed to. Therefore, he “messed up” the timeline, gets captured by the TVA (Time Variance Authority), and here is where the adventures of Loki begin.

What can I say about the show? OMG! It was so good and I have never been so mind-blown about MCU in my entire life. Television-wise, this phase of the Marvel Universe is blowing my mind, and I’m questioning everything. The show took so many twists and turns and I was not mentally prepared for it. There are so many different variances of Loki (I counted around 6ish) and they were supposed to stay in their timelines. However, the TVA wanted to take and capture them because they were considered a threat… or so they were told. There is somebody controlling the timeline (a.k.a., the Time Keepers) that knows all, sees all, and knows the future… or so the workers of the TVA thought. Two of the Loki variances (the Loki we know and a female Loki, named Sylvie) ended up finding the Time Keepers… as robots. They later find that they were a cover up to hide the true reason for the TVA and the person behind it, He Who Remains. (Let’s call him HWR.) Sylvie kills HWR for revenge, even though the he told them what would happen if they tried to kill him… even when they were given the opportunity to run TVA themselves. As a result, this now unlocks the multiverse and the more terrible variances of the HWR… which is bad. Yep, HWR has variances too!

BTW, Jonathan Majors did a GREAT job playing HWR and I was entertained the entire time. I guess it’s safe to say that the TVA is a black-owned business. You cannot tell me otherwise!

What If…? comes out on August 11, 2021, and I already know that my mind is going to spin. In my opinion, MCU is trying to get us out of this idea of it being one person to play a superhero, or they’re getting us to open up to the idea of there being an alternative ending to what has been played. Loki had like 6ish variances and we just saw three people play Captain America. Marvel can go in so many different directions! I didn’t know what to expect after End Game because it was such an epic movie to me, so I really, really didn’t know what to expect with Phase 4. All I can say is that I didn’t expect this LOL! Nevertheless, Marvel knows what they’re doing and I’m really not looking to know. It’s not like Marvel will tell me anyway!

If you’re interested in watching Loki, then I will be found exclusively on Disney Plus.

Hopefully, my thoughts made sense. This was a great show! What do y’all think about it? I’d love to know.

Take care!

  1. Your blog helped me to understand what was going cause I had no idea. Now I can see how MCU is preparing us to see others in our superhero roles. With the death of Chadwick Boseman, we could see someone else playing the role of the black panther. Anything is a possibility now.
