The Black Lives Matter movement ignited a flame within the lives of almost every black person in the United States of America. Many of us want to protest, sign petitions, share knowledge about our hurt for the past 400 years, and share our stories. I’m even beginning to see a lot more people supporting black-owned businesses ever since the deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, and countless others. I find it to be a beautiful thing when I see so many of my people appreciating our blackness and showing love for our African heritage. On the other hand, I do have a small concern. I hope that we’re not just supporting black-owned businesses for one day or that supporting a black-owned business this is just a phase. I hope that this is a continuous thing for many years to come.

According to The Blackout Coalition on Facebook, today is Black Out Day, a day where we support Black-Owned Businesses only. That may be easy for some people and difficult for others. Therefore, I wanted to write this blog today to share with you the businesses I have supported in the past. Some I have known for a few years and others I’ve only known for a few months. Hopefully, this will give you some inspiration on who you can support today and many years to come.

A Flash Forever Photography | The name of the owner is Chanda Smith. I started supporting her when I graduated from college with my bachelor’s degree in 2014. She has owned in her craft and is dope with a camera. She is officially my go-to photographer. I’d say give her a try! (Example above)

Blake-n-Co | This is a skincare line that I just supported this past weekend. I bought a silk body balm that I haven’t tried yet but I’ve heard so many great things about it. I’ll update this blog post when I do.

Cole & Company | The name of the business owner is Lamarr Cole. He has multiple businesses, one of which is Cole & Company Clothing! His clothes are of good quality and alluring. I’d say give him a try.

Eats by Nae & Nae Nicole Designs | The name of the business owner is Jenae Dean. She makes cups, shirts, & food. She’s a dope person, funny, and I would recommend her services.

Goddess Glow Naturals | This business sells lip balms and lip scrub that anyone can use. My lips can stay moisturized for a while and each product smells good. Plus, it’s affordable! Who can be mad at that?

Loc’d N Scent | The name of the business owner is LaTeasa Spears and she sells candles and smell goods. Not only is her candles great quality but she is also a warm person who loves to give updates on her business. I truly appreciate that in a business owner and it allured me to support.

Sunshine’s Custom Creations | The name of the business owner is Veronica Peacock and she sells tumblers, cups, and coasters. She’s another person that I’ve seen growing in her craft does amazing work. She’s also an amazing person. I couldn’t wait to support her.

The Grind House Coffee & Tea Company | Although I’m an avid tea-drinker, Bill Miller Jr. sells great coffee. I’ve tried his iced coffee and the caramel latte so far. I look forward to trying his teas.

Unique Aromas | They sell what I call smell goods! I love her infused shea butter. It leaves me moisturized and smelling amazing for at least 8 hours. They are my go-to for my moisturizers, a lot better than Bath & Body Works. If you have dry skin, then I would give it a try. My mother has very dry skin and it’s difficult to find a product that will work for her. UA’s shea butter is the only butter that will last for a long time on her skin.

Honorable Mentions: (Those I’ve supported but don’t have pictures lol)
  • MinistryIsMe Ministries | I had the honor of writing a blog post for them. They are doing great things for the city of Dayton!
  • Breezy Vizualz | The business owner is Breanna Copeland, my Sister. She does great work with graphic design and photography. She did my logo for my crochet business, Neatly Tangled Yarn.
  • Neat Designz | The business owner is Roneika Williams, my God-sister. If you need a flyer done, then she’s your girl.
My Business | Neatly Tangled Yarn

She is my crochet business, my baby, and I love her. I can crochet anything from baby clothes to adult clothing to blankets and pillows. If you’re interested, then check out my Facebook Page. I am also on Instagram.

I have supported more, a LOT more; but that’s as far as my mind can remember for now *LOL* There are more people I would like to support. Who would you recommend? I’d love to know!

Black Lives Matter. Support your local black-owned business. Support your friend’s business. I’m sure they’ll appreciate it. Not a lot of people do.

Take care! Live Laugh Love.
