It’s been a long time since I’ve sat down and watched television shows regularly. There aren’t a lot of shows that I would remember to watch, which normally tells me that it’s not a memorable show worth watching. Dare I say… the TV world has stepped its game up over the years! Since October 2019, I sat down and watched Black Lightning, Sistas, and The Masked Singer every week. The season finale of Black Lightning ended on Monday, March 9, 2020, and I failed to give a review. *Insert disappointment face here* It’s only right that I give a followup post since I wrote about this show, along with The Masked Singer and mentioned Sistas, in a blog back in October. (Click here if you’re interested in reading it.)

The Masked Singer – Season 3

My review is short. So far, so good! This season is a bit different for me and I can’t explain how. Maybe it’s because it’s hard for me to figure out some of the people this time or it’s a repetitive show about figuring out who’s the one behind the mask. Nevertheless, it’s still a fun show to watch and I look forward to watching it every week. I absolutely love watching Ken Jeong guess the contestants and it gives me a chuckle every time. I assume the season finale will be sometime next month.

Sistas

I didn’t say much about this show in my last blog, other than it was a show that I wanted to check out. My interest came from Devale Ellis on Instagram. I’ve been a supporter of him and his family since his wife, Khadeen, was pregnant with their second son, Kairo. Their family is so dope! I remember Devale posting about the show on his Instagram and it seemed interesting based on the previews. Let’s just say that I’m glad I took the time to watch it.

The show was like a bowl of your favorite stew – full of flavor, laughs, drama, and downright crazy moments. I look forward to watching it every week with black twitter lol. There are a couple of storylines I’ve seen before from Tyler Perry, but he is truly showing his range and taking this show to the next level! Each episode gets crazier! I can’t wait to see what the future holds for Sistas.

Black Lightning – Season 3

If you waited until it came on Netflix and haven’t gotten through the whole season yet, then gon ‘head and log out sweetie lol because I wanna talk about this show! Y’all, this is my favorite show right now since season 1. I will have a fit if I missed any of it on TV and I can’t get down with waiting. I will even take the many, MANY commercials they like to put in the show so that I can process what just transpired.

I remember my feelings about the first episode. It’s almost as if the writers of the show were coming out of the gate like a bull at a rodeo. They left me STRESSED and on the edge of my bed most of the time this season. I’ll be honest and say that a few of the episodes were boring, but I think that’s normal with a show. I also think that some of the episodes had some open pockets of mystery, meaning it had me wondering how did we jump from one scene to the next and leaving me with lots of questions. (I hope that makes sense lol. Episode 13 is a good example.) Nevertheless, Black Lightning came with the heat this season and am pleased with the outcome. This season was a lot and I loved it.

– Spoiler Alert –

First off, The Pierce family. I knew Lynn fell off on the deep end when I saw her dig up that greenlight from that toilet lol! Jennifer was in la-la land to me most of this season but some information was also withheld from her too… such as Khalil not being in his grave and turned into a terminator assassin lol. I was glad to see Anissa be Thunder. (I like her better as Thunder anyway.) TC and Gambi work well together as a team and I hope to see more of it next season. As for Black Lightning, he was going through it this season! He had a monologue that had him in his feelings! Plus, I don’t blame him. His family was not together throughout the whole season and they were all going through problems on their own, as mentioned in an interview.

Agent O’Dell. I can’t count how many times he pissed me off because he and the ASA were on some BULL the whole season. They came to Freeland just to make an army, got Lynn addict to greenlight, tried to turn Jennifer against her own family, made Painkiller kill Khalil’s mother, and other stuff… JUST TO BOW OUT at the end of the season?! I can’t! Also, we didn’t see much of Tobias this season and he’s my favorite villain on the show lol. I also love that the writers brought back some old favorites like Lady Eve and Lala. Gravedigger… I’m not gonna lie! Wayne Brady did a great job portraying his character and he had me convinced. I’m still in my feels about Henderson though. I knew Damon Gupton was leaving the show but I was not expecting Henderson to die. Like… I wanted him to leave Freeland, not leave and go six feet underground!

Unpopular Opinions | I liked Painkiller better than Khalil. (There’s a difference.) He’ll kill someone and give them a slow and painful death while reciting poetry and telling them about their life lol. Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t think Jennifer and Khalil should be together and I’m glad it looks like it didn’t work out in the end. I think it’ll end up being a toxic boyfriend-girlfriend relationship to me (no pun intended). They should just remain as best friends. Furthermore, we’re not gonna act like the whole Bonnie and Clyde 2019 thing didn’t happen in season 2! Tuh!

I hope to see more of the Pierce family fighting together. Of course, I wanna see Gambi and TC work together as mentioned. I also want to see Grace getting out of a coma. I also would love to see Khalil get back at Tobias for ripping out his spine close to the end of season 2. I’m curious to see how Gravedigger is going to annoy the Pierce family even more *lol*

Overall, I loved the entire thing. The season finale ended well and I enjoyed the entire thing. It wasn’t a too open-ended finale, even though there are a few parts that we’ll have to figure out for season 4. I am very pleased with the season and I look forward to it.

What should I check out next? I’d love to know!
