I’m know we’re 11 days into October, but welcome to the official fall! Here I am with another blog π I’m so excited about this one! I was inspired by TanelaWrites when she came out with a fall television review. (Btw, check it out because she is one of my good friends!) I figure I’d give a review of my own π Here goes nothing!
Black Lightning – Season 3
Y’all, I love Black Lightning. I am a huge fan of this show. So it was only right that I made time to watch the first episode when it came on. I even put an alarm on my phone to prevent myself from forgetting. (Fyi, I have a habit of forgetting what’s on television, and then I’m eventually falling down this rabbit hole. At that point, I forget all about it and choose not to pursue it. Power and Game of Thrones are prime examples.)
Anywho…
The first episode of season three aired on Monday, October 7, 2019. Here’s how I feel about the first episode. I didn’t expect the first few minutes of the show to begin with Black Lightning being quarantined. It took a minute for me to figure out what was going on. It had me stressed from beginning to end! By 8:59pm it had me thinking, So this is how we’re beginning season three?! It was pretty good, and I’m anxious to see how the rest of the season unfolds. If you’re interested, the show airs on Mondays at 9:00 pm on The CW.
The Masked Singer
I remember hearing about this show when my mom was watching the season 1 finale. I thought it was intriguing at the time and wished that I took the time to watch it. Fast-forward to this past week: I saw my dad watching season two, which I believe aired on September, 25th. I eventually found myself catching up on Hulu. Then I had to watch the whole first season. It took me only a few days to watch it all. I was that hooked! Here are my thoughts…
This is not your typical singing competition. Of course, the show entails mysterious contestants and shows their singing chops, charisma, performing experience. Of course, the show involves some heavy hitters in music, acting, and talk shows with multi-platinum hits, multiple Grammys, famous families, multiple Emmy’s, etc. However, I believe this only shows a small portion of this idea.
“The Masked Singer” is a very engaging game of “Who’s Who” by using costumes to showcase their voice, not about who they are to the world. Can they get their point across (i.e., voice, performance, etc.) when they’re hiding under a mask? Would they be taken seriously if they came as themselves? I’m telling you, this show is so fun to watch! If season two is anything like season one, then I just might recognize some of the voices. This past Wednesday, I recognized one of the voices for sure! If you’re interested, the show airs on Wednesdays at 8:00 pm on Fox.
What Other Shows to Watch?
Over the years I gravitated towards YouTube binge-watching and Netflix. It’s rare when I watch cable, so I have to seize the moment and have alarms set on my phone when I find a good show.
I did see a show coming out called “Sistas” on BET that may be interesting. What’s on your show list?
Take care!
