I return to work next week. This summer has been a mixture of fun, procrastination, spontaneity, boredom, and laziness. I can only count on one hand how many times I’ve thought of work, but I know that it’s time to start mentally preparing myself to turn back on my alarm, get my clothes ready the night before, prepare my lunch, and get my sleep schedule back into work-mode. (I’ve been going to bed around 2am lately.)

This blog post isn’t a “this is all about me” type of blog. I do something this every year, reflecting on my summer and getting back into the swing of things. It’s something about resting your mind and body that makes me feel like reflecting and thinking more.

So… what have I done this summer break?

I traveled to Myrtle Beach, which was amaaazing. I even have a blog about it! (Click HERE)

Sleep… a lot. It felt great.

Crochet… a lot. I felt so inspired this summer by pictures I’ve found on the internet. I crocheted nonstop and I ended up with my own collection of things. My goal is to do the same thing next year, yet sell them this time around.

Officiate my Business. I made the decision to crochet in June 2014 and it wasn’t until July 2019 that I decided to make it official! I’m a bit excited, yet nervous, to see how this turns out! Most of you know it as Neatly Tangled Yarn.

Binge-Watch Shows. I watched a season of “The Amazing Race”, the whole series of “Hey Arnold” (so nostalgic), and the 2nd season of “She’s Gotta Have It.” I feel no shame.

State (and County) Fairs. I went to both the Montgomery County fair and the Ohio State Fair with my mom. Both were very nice and I had a good time.

Birthday Parties & a Bridal Shower. Those are always fun.

World of Warcraft. If you’re a nerd like me, then you already know.

What’s Up With the Rest of the Summer?

Besides going back to work I do have another trip coming up! I also wrote down a list of movies that I want to watch. (Most of them aren’t coming out in the summer, but humor me. I wrote a list. Hopefully my release dates are correct.)

  • Hobbs and Shaw – August 2019
  • Don’t Let Go – August 30th
  • 21 Bridges – September 2019
  • Harriet – November 1, 2019
  • A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood – Thanksgiving 2019
  • Maleficent – October 18, 2019
  • Mulan – Spring 2020

I also plan to make time to do yoga, write more, read, and continue to crochet. By no means do I plan to do all of this at the same time, but I plan to do it nonetheless.

Is Summer Over?

I remember seeing on the internet that August is similar to the “Sunday” of summer. In other words, Sunday is coming and Monday is around the corner. Not too many people like mondays. Sometimes I don’t.

Well, I like to think of it as the night before Sunday versus the actual Sunday itself. If you’re like me, going back to school this month, don’t think of it as a bad thing. Let me point out that summer is not over and it’s still in full effect! The first day of autumn isn’t until September 23rd. I still have some summer left, and so do you! You can still do some of the things that you’d like to do… you just have a time limit now lol πŸ™‚

Did I Learn Anything This Summer?

Yeah, I know. Sounds silly, right? To your amusement, I have learned something this summer (and honestly at the 2nd quarter of the year). It’s something that I already knew, but needed a good reminder.

Do not over-book yourself.

It’s so easy to jam-pack your life with so many things: work, church, volunteering, side-hussles, sports, children, events… you name it. After a while, this can be detrimental to your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. It’s okay to say no to events or being a part of groups/organizations and think about you for a change. Your body is a temple, and that includes your mind!

This summer has been amazing to me. It felt like I didn’t do much yet did a lot at the same time. My hope is that this 2nd half of the year is amazing to me, while implementing this reminder.
