So, recently I came back from a 4-night trip to Myrtle Beach. I’ve never been to this beach before, so I was excited about going. So much so, that I bought some Fenty Beauty’s Body Lava to take on my trip and a new swimsuit from Amazon. (Okay, maybe not just for that trip exactly.) I went with one of my best friends and we had a blast. We stayed at Sandy Shores III, which was an apartment-style living. Everything about the trip was amazing: the beach… the food… the beach… the excursions… the beach… the ocean waves… did I mention the beach?

Most of my excitement came from the fact that I haven’t been to a beach since 2011. I know right?! That’s far too long! I figured that this trip deserves my full attention and a blog post. If you’re planning on making a trip to Myrtle Beach and you don’t know what to do there, then here are my recommendations πŸ™‚

Food

As I’ve said above, I went with one of my best friends. Every restaurant we’ve been to had amazing food, from chicken to fresh seafood that came from the ocean.
1. Tupelo Honey Cafe | This restaurant is located in The Market Common. Although there is more to this place than brunch, Tupelo Honey was a great place to have mimosas and southern-style brunch. Their homemade biscuits were delectable, which came with blueberry spread and honey. I had the Tupelo Gulf Shrimp & Grits with The Sweet & Tart mimosa, and let me tell you something: that was the best shrimp and grits I’ve ever tasted so far. If I can remember correctly, my friend had the Avocado Toast & Eggs with The Classic mimosa, which was good as well. We had the option of eating inside or outside, and we chose to eat outside. If you would like to have brunch in Myrtle Beach, then I’d recommend this place. Check out their website here.
2. King Street Grille | This restaurant is also located in The Market Common. They had some great food. I tried the award-winning Chicken Chesapeake Sandwich with thick waffle fries, and it was really good. We also tried the Pimento cheese balls, which were good. My friend had a hamburger, which she said was good. If you’re into sports bars and good food, then give this a try. Check out their website here.
3. Pier 14 | This oceanfront seafood restaurant is located on the boardwalk of Myrtle Beach. I had fried flounder with fries and cole slaw. Now, I’m not a coleslaw fan, but that was the best coleslaw I’ve ever tasted. The flounder was good as well. Both of them were so fresh! I remember my friend having a seafood pasta, and she thought it was good. Not only did it have food, but it also had live music and a photographer for a complimentary postcard (with the option of purchasing other photos). We had the option of eating inside or outside, and we chose to eat outside. The fans outside made it cool and bearable. Watching the ocean waves, eating good food, and listening to live music was so relaxing and surreal. If you want to sit and watch the ocean while you eat, then Pier 14 is a great option. Check out their website here.
4. Boardwalk Coffee House Myrtle Beach | This Christian-based coffee shop is located along the boardwalk of Myrtle Beach. Slowly but surely I’m becoming a fancy coffee-drinker. I tried their Caramel Macchiato and it was really good. I can’t remember what my friend had. I knew it had something to do with Chai and she thought it was good. If you need a pick-me-up, then I’d recommend this place. Check out their website here.
5. Crabby Mike’s | This restaurant is a calabash seafood buffet, located in Surfside Beach (not too far from the boardwalk). If you’re a seafood lover, then I think you’d love this place. I tried a lot of new dishes, like crawfish and mussel. I also tried seafood that I’m familiar with and it was good: salmon, crab legs, seafood pasta. This is also a good place to bring your family. There is an option to take memorable photos. Check out their website here.
6. The Conch Cafe | I learned that this isn’t located in Myrtle Beach, but technically in Murrells Inlet, SC, which is 20 minutes north of Myrtle Beach. This was also an 8-minute walk from the place we were staying. so this restaurant worked out for us. We had the option of eating inside or outside, and we chose to eat outside. I had the Tuna Salad Melt Sandwich and my friend had the Flounder Sandwich. My sandwich was delicious and so was hers! (Don’t ask me why I had a tuna melt *lol*) If you’re staying in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, I’d recommend this place. Check out their website here.

Excursions and Shopping

There are so many things you can do in Myrtle Beach, like parasailing, helicopter rides, ziplining, mini-golf, shopping, get a massage, etc. We went on a few excursions, in which none of them lacked in anything to us.
1. The Market Commons | This is a town center filled with stores, boutiques, food, a movie theatre, and spas. They have places you’re familiar with and boutiques you can’t get anywhere else. As mentioned above, we went to Tupelo Honey and King Street Grille. We also went to the movies and saw Men in Black International, which was surprisingly good. We had massages at The Touch of Aloha Day Spa and Massages, which was amaaaaaaaazing. There were many other places we went to, but I don’t want to make this post too long. Check out their website here.
2. Helicopter Rides | You haven’t lived until you’ve taken a helicopter ride at least once in your life. There are different places you can go to for a helicopter ride. Unfortunately, I can’t remember which one we went to. Just take my word for it. It was amazing!
3. Zipline| If helicopters aren’t your speed, then try ziplining. There are different zipline places you can go to in Myrtle Beach. We went to the Myrtle Beach Zipline Adventures, which was located near the Myrtle Beach Pier. It’s an actual park comprised of different types of ziplines. You have the option of going on one zipline or going on all five. Eventually, we chose to go on all five and it was the best decision we’ve made. Honestly, it was my favorite part of the whole trip because I faced my fears and had a lot of fun doing it. Check out their website here.
4. Relax on the Beach | What more can you ask for? That is the whole reason why you’d want to go to Myrtle Beach! Trust me, you’ll never grow tired of sitting along the beach and watching the waves for hours. We also got in the water and it felt amazing!
5. Walk on the Boardwalk | There are so many places to see and experience, like the arcade, candy store, mirror maze, food, coffee, concerts, etc.

Tips and Warnings!

  1. Keep in mind that there are supposedly jellyfish in the water. We didn’t see any, but be careful still.
  2. If you go to the beach between 11 am and 2 pm, then that sand will be hot. I’d suggest you get some swim shoes. I bought these and they came in handy!
  3. If you’re driving there and you want to sit at the beach, then don’t forget chairs and umbrellas. If you rode a plane, then keep in mind that your hotel or villa may or may not have complimentary chairs and umbrellas to sit under. There are ways where you can rent some, but we have found purchasing chairs and umbrellas to be a lot cheaper. Unfortunately, we couldn’t take them back with us. So, we left them for someone else to use.
  4. If you forgot anything, then WalMart will be your friend. There’s also CVS and Walgreens, but WalMart was a great friend to us! It gave us snacks and lots of water for later… *LOL* The top to one of my bathing suits became too small. (I haven’t worn it in years.) We learned that the WalMart in Myrtle Beach has a lot of really cute bathing suits. They were a whole lot better than the WalMart back at home.
  5. Hydrate yourself! It’s hot out there. WalMart had gallon jugs for 60 cents!

If you’ve been to Myrtle Beach, then what did you do while you were there? What are your recommendations? Let me know!

So, let me tell y’all something. The after-effects of coming back from a trip are REAL. After coming home from a dope trip, you put your luggage down and you begin to think… Well, I’m home. Now, what can I do? Those were my thoughts after driving home from the airport, turning into my street that is full of construction (they are changing the pipes on our street), making a difficult turn into the driveway, and sitting on my bed. After catching a very early flight home, you would have thought my first instinct would be to take a nap. Nope, it was not. I unpacked my belongings and showed my parents some pictures of my trip. Then, I ate breakfast. I eventually took a 3-hour nap, which was amazing.

So what’s next from here? I wanna keep the momentum going. My next trip is Labor Day, but I wanna go somewhere else. Nothing too big. Only time will tell πŸ˜‰
