Today is December 28th, day three of Kwanzaa! Today’s principle is

Ujima – Collective Work and Responsibility
To build and maintain our community together and make our brother’s and sister’s problems our problems and to solve them together.

This thought will be short since the principle itself is pretty much self explanatory.

I think it is possible to build up a community if it’s empty. It may take a while, but slow progress is better than no progress at all. I’ll be honest and say that I can do better in helping my community. What are some ways you can think of to build and maintain your community? I think this also goes back to a thought I had from yesterday’s blog but a lot more than that. When you need help, don’t be afraid to ask! When someone needs help, imagine yourself in his/her/their shoes and treat the problem as if it is your own problem. Work together to solve the problem.

One thing that I’m learning so far is to work together to rebuild our hope for our environment, and these principles are reiterating the idea of “United we stand, divided we fall.”
