“Romancing the Runway” – Linda Hudson-Smith
Fiction, Romance (African American)
Published 3/1/2009
In a nutshell, the book entails a young woman (Kennedy Bassett) who is an A-list runway model that falls in love with an A-list, hot runway model (Xavier De Marco) . Because they’re supermodels and famous, their relationship goes viral. They endure a lot of struggles (e.g., enemies, unsolicited groupies, etc.) to keep their relationship afloat. I’m gonna leave it at that since I don’t wanna give too much away. (Btw, this is not a book for teens: contains adult details that even shocked me *lol* but nothing overbearing to read).
The book is a bit old… which might make this book review invalid… but I thought it would be fun to do anyway 🙂 This book review will be short, but I don’t think book reviews have to be so long and it doesn’t necessarily mean that the book was bad. So I guess it’s safe to say, “Sorry, but not sorry.” *shrugs* So… what did I think? Good question!
I liked the story line! Husdon-Smith did a great job with the imagery and details of the book. I was able to envision the main characters (i.e., what they looked like, their clothes, the scene, etc.) and that’s always a plus for me. The sub-characters were great as well and brought many spices to the book. It reminded me of a soap opera and I’m yelling at the “television” per se. I laughed, shook my head, got annoyed, and shed a few tears (that never came down) once in the book. I even liked the ending, very appropriate for the title, and it was my favorite part of the book. I thing I do have to say is I did feel like some scenes were drawn out a bit too much. Nevertheless, the book was good overall. It was a short read, and didn’t take long.
Would recommend this book? Yep!
Grade: 4 stars!
Well, that’s it. Take care!
